As a younger lad, selling books, door to door (la dor va dor) one of my selling room mates when only 18 years old was Adrian, Adrian Shabbat who, at the time, was a Senior at Creighton University. Adrian's favourite saying that was only said by Kato and me was...She bought, She bought, She...didn't buy.
Nevertheless, in time (pun intended), a compiled website and books taught about the authentico Shabbat.
Shabbat (“Sabbath”) is the first tractate in Seder Moed (Order of Festivals). Its 24 chapters discuss the 39 melachot (creative labors prohibited on Shabbat), prohibitions of carrying on Shabbat, and positive commandments that preserve the sanctity of the day, such as lighting candles and eating three meals.
Nevertheless, some of these rules and procedures, some would say, require revenue, a study of the language, a spouse and family, some would say a scholarly Rabbi, etc. etc. etc.
For others, we're still learning and practicing.
Something simple, for example, are the Shabbat Candles and the volume of simple, yet important rules for lighting and extinguishing a flame. Some religious observers of Torah practice a 'half-shabbat' version with candles lasting only a few hours, for others, a 26-28 hour candle is more ideal.
